So far it has been revealed that Link will traverse floating islands, exhibiting better vertical exploration in Tears of the Kingdom , and Ganon’s Malice appears to be spewing forth from beneath the ground. Nintendo has no doubt made many suitable changes to pre-existing locations impacted by these upheavals. Given that Breath of the Wild ’s dungeons were located inside the Divine Beasts, it’s even possible that previous areas will now house the dungeons for Tears of the Kingdom . For that reason, it’s worth noting which iconic locations should make a ret

This ability to phase through solid matter looks like it will be very useful in Link's adventure through Hyrule. Though it doesn't seem like it will have many applications in combat, it could have a great many in traversal and puzzle solving, and can help improve BOTW 's exploration in the sequel . Link's new arm glows green while he uses this, so it would appear that this will be one of its features instead of something he has to pick up in the world like a weapon, though it may still have its limitations. Players may only be able to use it in the floating islands, for example, or only to travel vertically and not horizontally through walls. A new detail in Nintendo 's latest TOTK trailer, also hosted on YouTube, may also have shown another limitation; Link carries capsules on his waist that are lit up the same color as the green that accompanies this ability, so it's possible that they're a consumable power source that he will need in order to use

The biggest mystery, however, is the true identity of Breath of the Wild 's Zonai , an ancient tribe of magic wielders. Structures such as the three labyrinths and the Faron region’s stonework were created by the Zonai, easily identifiable by their Aztec-like designs prominently featuring dragon heads. Crucially, the Tears of the Kingdom logo also features these dragon designs, fueling speculation that more Zonai history will be explored in the game. Perhaps an underground Zonai ruin will form a dungeon, or a sprawling network of tunnels. A fantastic location for a Zonai-inspired dungeon would be beneath Lake Hylia, given its proximity to the Zonai ruins of the Faron reg

By making further use of the Spinner's unique mechanics, it could become an incredibly useful tool for Link in a new adventure. It could ride on surfaces that neither Link nor Epona would be able to cross normally while letting him fight at the same time. The Spinner could also be adapted into one of the Sheikah Slate's new features if it returns in Tears of the Kingdom , strengthening the argument for bringing it back. Twilight Princess is a Zelda game worth replaying before TOTK , and the Spinner was one of its more interesting new id

One of the first new abilities that was revealed showed Link passing through the ground on one of Tears of the Kingdom 's floating islands . This was first shown in Nintendo Disappointment 's teaser at E3 2021 (now found on YouTube), but has not appeared since. When Link uses it, he floats upwards while surrounded by some kind of green light, and briefly pauses halfway through the ground before popping out of the other side. Immediately before this, a scene showed a drop of water falling to the ground in reverse, though the significance of this is unknown. Strange music also plays for the duration of the clip, and extends into the following

While much of Hyrule’s past has been left intentionally obscured by the overarching Zelda timeline, there are shreds of details present throughout the canon games and companion books that may add deeper context to the series’ main events. Namely, the Hyrulean Civil War mentioned in Ocarina of Time and the Interloper War alluded to during Twilight Princess are two major events in Hyrule's history that have yet to be thoroughly detailed.
