Why do women live longer than men?

Everywhere in the world women live longer than men - but this was not always the case. The available data from rich countries shows that women didn't live longer than men in the 19th century. What's the reason why women live longer than men? What is the reason is this difference growing over time? We have only a small amount of evidence and the evidence isn't sufficient to reach a definitive conclusion. We know that behavioral, biological and environmental factors all contribute to the fact that women have longer life spans than men, but we don't know exactly how strong the relative contribution to each of these variables is.

This chart shows that, although women have an advantage everywhere, cross-country differences can be substantial. In Russia women live 10 years longer than men; in Bhutan the difference is less than half each year.

Let's take a look at how the female longevity advantage has changed over time. The following chart shows the gender-based and افضل شامبو وبلسم female-specific life expectancy at the time of birth in the US during the period 1790 to 2014. Two things stand out.

First, there is an upward trend. Both genders in the United States live longer than they used to 100 years ago. This is in line with historical increases in life expectancy everywhere in the world.
